*Jane Doe's 'Shadows of Tomorrow' draws on real climate data to depict survival in a flooded world.*

NEW YORK -- Jane Doe, a former NASA climate researcher, published her debut novel "Shadows of Tomorrow" on Thursday through Indie Press.
The 350-page book follows a group of survivors navigating a submerged East Coast after accelerated sea-level rise.
Doe based the narrative on peer-reviewed projections from her 15-year career at the space agency.
The novel arrives amid record global temperatures, with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reporting 2024 as the hottest year on record. Doe spent two years writing the book after leaving NASA in 2022, incorporating data from sources including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
"This isn't just fiction—it's a warning grounded in the models I used to brief policymakers," Doe said. "If we ignore the trajectories, stories like this become reality."
Indie Press reported 10,000 pre-orders through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and independent bookstores. The book is available in hardcover, ebook and audiobook formats, with a virtual launch event scheduled for Oct. 15 via Zoom.
"Shadows of Tomorrow" is available for $26.99 in hardcover at major retailers, online platforms and indiepressbooks.com. Doe will appear at the Miami Book Fair on Nov. 20.
