The 320-page historical fiction work draws directly from journals kept by Rivera's grandfather, a Filipino-American veteran. It is available in hardcover, ebook and audiobook formats nationwide.

+The book chronicles the struggles of overlooked troops amid brutal island campaigns, incorporating declassified military records for historical detail. Early reviews from military historians note its role in filling gaps in popular WWII accounts.

+"These stories from my family's past needed to be told before they faded entirely," Rivera said. The Seattle software engineer spent three years researching and writing the novel.

+Initial print run sales exceeded 5,000 copies in the first week, with distribution through major retailers and select military base exchanges. Partnerships with the National WWII Museum include author events and reading guides for veterans' groups.
