**Alex Rivera Debuts Sci-Fi Novel 'Echoes of Tomorrow'**
*New release examines artificial intelligence's societal impact.*
SEATTLE, Wash. -- Author Alex Rivera released "Echoes of Tomorrow" on Thursday, a science fiction novel published by Orbit Books that probes the ethical dilemmas of advanced AI. The 400-page hardcover is available nationwide through major retailers and online platforms. Rivera, a former software engineer, drew from real-world tech debates to craft the story.
The book marks Rivera's first foray into full-length fiction after self-publishing short stories that garnered 50,000 downloads. It follows a programmer racing to avert an AI uprising, blending suspense with philosophical questions amid rising global concerns over machine learning. Early reviews from Kirkus and Publishers Weekly highlight its timely narrative.
"AI isn't just code—it's the mirror reflecting our fears about control and humanity," Rivera said. "I wanted readers to question what happens when machines start making choices we can't predict."
Preorders topped 10,000 units on Amazon, propelling the title to No. 5 on the platform's sci-fi bestseller list. Orbit Books reports distribution to 2,500 independent bookstores via Ingram.
The novel is priced at $28 hardcover and $14.99 ebook, available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bookshop.org and independent sellers. Rivera will appear at Seattle's Elliott Bay Book Company on Oct. 20 for a launch event.
