**Penguin Random House Acquires Debut Novel in Six-Figure Deal**
*Alex Rivera's "Echoes of the Lost" prevails in multi-publisher auction.*
NEW YORK -- Penguin Random House has acquired world rights to Alex Rivera's debut novel "Echoes of the Lost" in a six-figure deal, the publisher announced Thursday. The historical thriller, set amid World War II codebreakers, emerged from a heated auction involving five imprints. Publication is scheduled for fall 2025.
The book follows a young cryptologist uncovering a Nazi conspiracy that threatens Allied forces, drawing on declassified archives for its plot. Rivera, a former intelligence analyst, spent three years researching at the National Archives in Washington. The deal was negotiated by agent Maria Gonzalez at Horizon Literary.
"This story has haunted me since I first decoded those wartime files," Rivera said. "It's not just history—it's a reminder of how secrets still shape our world today."
Rivera's manuscript has already generated buzz among early readers, with beta testers praising its tense pacing and authentic details. The novel will be published under the Putnam imprint, with initial print run of 75,000 copies.
"Echoes of the Lost" is available for pre-order through major retailers including Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million. Rivera will appear at the Miami Book Fair in November.
ABOUT ALEX RIVERA: Alex Rivera is a former intelligence analyst and graduate of Georgetown University. "Echoes of the Lost" is his first novel. He lives in Miami with his family.
